Is Grace For Me?

I recently heard someone on a podcast say “Grace is not yours to give.” That statement has shook me. As someone who will forgive others to a fault, I can say to a fault because truthfully I probably should have healthier boundaries especially when it comes to telling people no.

While I can go extreme with forgiving/overlooking others and trying to pour into others, I go just as extreme in the opposite direction when it comes to myself. I am my worst critic. I tear myself down just to beat myself up. I am not saying this in a poor me way. I am sharing my heart because I feel so many girls do the same. I have a daughter and I pray she never talks to herself the way I mentally talk to myself.

“to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,” Ephesians 4:23

(Paul is reminding us to align our thoughts with who we are in Christ)

If I am so quick to run to others in need and ready to pour encouragement into them, speaking grace over their situation then why can’t I do the same for myself?

But wait! We are back to that question.. Who said Grace was mine to give?

Ouch! The truth is none of us deserve Grace. Grace is a gift to those who accept Jesus.

GRACE

In the world we live in the word “Grace” is everywhere. It is common on shirts, cups, home decor., etc. Grace has become a trend and we get this watered down version.

True Grace comes only from God. I challenge you to read John 3:16 and Romans 10:9 to understand the true meaning and even still I feel we cannot truly understand the depth of the meaning. Abiding in Him can transform how we respond to others and ourselves with love, patience, and humility. My prayer is that we seek Jesus to receive and know fully the grace only He can give.
